26th JANUARY 1960 - RYALLS HOTEL BLANTYRE
HAROLD MACMILLAN DRAWS A CROWD

(Plus the HOBB ~ HONOURABLE ORDER of the BOOTLESS BOBBIES)

From the top: Glynn Johns, Ron Mountford, Paddy Andrews,
Colin Limb, Jeff York.

Peter Hewitt lends an ear,
Paddy Andrews watches his back.

It's ladies to the fore
"Release Kumuzu" - seems to be the gist of things.

Richard Smallshaw (right) thinks golf, Colin Limb and Constables seem more interested in goings on elsewhere.

Below are extracts from some of the press and the Southworth enquiry into the event

To quote Mr Justice Southworth
"As far as can be ascertained, the amount of skin lost by both police and demonstrators as a result of injuries received on this occasion would hardly cover the area of one square inch, probably no more than the area of a penny postage stamp; and it does not appear that the amount of blood that was shed would be sufficient to test the capacity of a mustard spoon".
